Elated

Wow, I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted. Shortly after the electric got connected we began moving in. Making runs to town to purchase things we needed. Its been a very busy couple of weeks! It took me about a week and a half between the start of the move to everything getting tidy. We were still awaiting certain projects for everything to have its own place. I was able to just relax the last few days and did quite a bit of stitching and reading. T and I went to town yesterday and got the stuff needed to finish up those few projects. He built me a unit to place my microwave a such on and he is putting shelves in the laundry room after football is over tonight :) I went to town deep cleaning the house today. I have kept up with it through the week, dishes are done nightly and its picked up. Today I removed all of the clutter that seems to find its way to the bar and in my room, but I also scrubbed toilets, dusted, and vacuumed. I will mop tonight after everyone goes to bed.  Its amazing how much more you get done when you don't have a ton of dishes waiting for you when you get up. This makes me very proud of myself and I feel super accomplished.

My husband got a call recently from his boss telling his that the second in command at their company was specially requesting him for a different position. The position requires a few classes and the purchase of a side arm but it does come with a pay raise. He said he had to discuss it with me first. I told him not only is this something that allows him to move up in the company, which is always the goal of a career, and get to carry, something he has always wanted, but its also a show of recognition. Recognition of all the hard work and long hours he has put in the last several months. He is 5 months into this job and has gotten 2 raises and now a promotion. He put in 72 hours last week!! He went to work at 6 pm yesterday and didn't get off till 12 today. They offered to fill his shift tonight and give him time to rest but he refused so in a few short hours he will be back at it. His first class is this coming weekend then he will get to start the new job after the following weekend.

Rhyno is having some weirdo medical stuff going on this week. Random vomiting with no apparent cause and then a rash today. I put in a note to his doctor to see if I need to take him in. He's acting
pretty normal other than his accidents. We enjoyed a home game this past tuesday. The cheerleaders have added a halftime dance to their repertoire and we really liked the chili dogs!! We whooped the other team 36-0. I am slowly learning this game :) Doodle got her first progress report. All A's. I am very proud of her and she and I have been making slow steps at allowing her on facebook. She's mostly been posting her achievements or her art.

Have you ever had that moment that just feels right, like everything is just going right? I had a moment a year or so ago when I thought I was happy, or I was but I was also worried something was going to happen to take away my happy. Everything was going good but I couldn't trust it.

Today is not one of those days. I can honestly say I am happy, life is on the right path and I feel great.

Busy Days

It has been a very busy several days.

At the beginning of June we made a Big Move. We gave up a house that was given to us by my
parents, we left the school Doodle had been attending for her first two years of school, I left a job I loved. The job had taught me a lot about myself and helped me grow past really hard trials in my life. After the move I needed to prove to myself and my children that it was for the better. We now have a home that I can see being very permanent living on my husbands family land. He will inherit this land and he takes much pride in it. My first step in showing my kids a better life is we are able to place them in extracurricular activities. In our former situation I neither had the time nor the money for such things.

Saturday we spent the morning at Doodle's game. She is a cheerleader for the local pee-wee football team. She is amazing, she exceeded my expectations in her ability to learn and perform. She learns new cheers quickly and practices all the time. The one practice a week is not enough for her so everyday after school we work on learning the cheers and improving her form. She is dedicated and happy and I could not ask for happier moments then when she makes everyone out here attend her small performances in the yard. We came home and cooked burgers and pork chops on the pit for my husbands birthday.

Sunday was spent finishing the preparations for our new trailer to arrive on Monday.

Monday my father-in-law T and I went to town to buy a few things needed for our new home. Shortly after we arrived back at the land, the trailer arrived. I spent several hours just sitting and watching them get it level and set it up. After cheer practice we were able to go inside and look at it. We discussed plans for where we would place furniture.

Tuesday they finished connecting the sewer and the water while I placed contact paper in the bottom of cabinents and drawers. I tell you this is something I hope I never have to do again. If I do I will wait till the AC is connected!!

I took a lazy day yesterday. Worked on my stitching and read my book. This morning the hubby is back at work and I really need to get things cleaned up around here. Electric gets hooked up tomorrow so the weekend will be spent moving in.

I am so incredibly happy and I cant express it enough. We have so many plans for our life and they are not dreams that will never be obtained. They are plans for a simple life but a happy one. This is my white picket fence life. I look forward to getting chickens and planting a garden in the spring. To signing Rhyno up for baseball. Getting horses in a few years.

In preparation

We got up bright and early this morning, got the kids off to school and started our long day of preparing! We got the call from the trailer company and they let us know they will be delivering on Monday!! We started working on clearing the spot of land that will be the home of our new home. We set up the electrical boxes and now just need the electric company to attach the lines and meter. We worked from sun up to sun down and will continue to do so tomorrow.

The kids love it out here. They played hard for hours on the piles of caliche we are gathering to make a pad for the trailer. I love watching them be so active and happy. Its a simple life and they enjoy every minute of it. They don't complain that they want more toys or whine when they are asked to clean up the land or feed the animals. I grew up in the city (or suburbs of a major metropolitan area) and so there is a lot to learn here and a lot of experiences that I really enjoy. For example I learned how to operate a backhoe today.

Lovin life!!

A little history, steps forward

I am a 26 year old, married, mother of two. I am currently a full time stay at home mommy. About a month ago I was sitting on the front porch of the mobile home my family shared with my father in law T, sister-in-law A, brother in law J, and their 4 children. My sister-in-law and I were attempting to build a shoe shelf when we smelled something burning. Thinking the dryer had overheated A went to turn it off then came back to the porch. A minute later the kids began to complain of the smell. We told them we took care of it and that it would dissipate soon. A moment later smoke began to drift from what seemed to be the dryer vent. I went in the home to see the bathroom in flames. We got the kids out and went to the nearby travel trailer to wake my husband for assistance. I called 911. Within 10 minutes the entire trailer was engulfed. The fire claimed everything including 2 of the 4 storage buildings behind the trailer. Those buildings saved our lives because the flames didn't make it to the 85% full propane tank. A, J, and their children moved to another town and we took residence in our travel trailer. The fire department said the fire was caused by a faulty water heater.

We signed papers on a brand new single wide trailer today. It will be delivered next week. I know the fire was a tragedy and has deeply affected my family. However I feel like we are only going up from here.
